Ever wanted to create a bootable usb stick ?

Quote from Unetbootin

UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for a variety of Linux distributions from Windows or Linux, without requiring you to burn a CD. You can either let it download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you’ve already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn’t on the list.

UNetbootin can create a bootable Live USB drive, or it can make a “frugal install” on your local hard disk if you don’t have a USB drive. It can load distributions by automatically downloading their ISO (CD image) files, or by using existing ISO files, floppy/hard disk images, or kernel/initrd files, for installing other distributions.

TeamDrive maps a drive-letter to online storage services to make them easier and faster to use. Different team members can securely share documents and eliminate problems with concurrent changes.
TeamDrive uses a variety of techniques including background writes and local caching to speed access to files.

Opera 10 final is apparently the same build (except for a few minor changes to standard files and a few new folders) as the Opera 10 Release Candidate 2 that was released last week. It is still recommended to upgrade to the final version of Opera 10. Downloads are available for Windows, Linux and Mac .

WinToFlash can transfer Windows XP, Vista, and 7 onto a flash drive as well as Server 2003 and 2008. WinToFlash can also transfer Windows Preinstallation Environments to flash drive.

WinToFlash is a softwaretool for transfering your Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 2008 and Windows 7 setup from CD or DVD to flash in some mouse clicks.

The process is simple and mostly obvious. You tell WinToFlash where the installation files you want to transfer are located and either let the transfer wizard take care of things, or specify settings like what kind of format the flash drive will undergo.

Windows vista and 7 can also be installed on a USB drive with the following tutorial.

corrupted-files.com

Corrupted files.com offers a wide array of corrupted Word, Excel or Power Point files that are guaranteed not to open on a Mac or PC.

their philosophy:

A corrupted file is a file that contains scrambled and unrecoverable data due to hardware or software failure. Files may become corrupted when something goes wrong while a file is being saved e.g. the program saving the file might crash. Files may also become corrupted when being sent via email. The perfect excuse to buy you that extra time!

If you work in a stressful environment, like me, you’ll need a good dose of coffee to keep you going. But who’s turn was it for the “office-coffee-round ”  ?

Offcourse  you could workout a scheme in Excel or Access, but the good people of Douwe Egberts have created a software packet for this: Koffiemanager.

You create a coffee-group on the first startup, so that when someone in your network comes online and installs the program he can see this group and become part of it. You can give up to max 4 timetables when decided it’s coffee time, a user then receives a notification if he would like to participate.

Not only suitable for coffee, but also for tea, water, espresso, limonade, etc. Furthermore, “Koffiemanager” chooses who’s time it is to get some beverage.

And ow yeah: it keeps statistics about the amount a person has drunk.

A  Free Recyclable Personal Organizer

The PocketMod is a new way to keep yourself organized. Lets face it, PDAs are too expensive and cumbersome, and organizers are bulky and hard to carry around. Nothing beats a folded up piece of paper. That is until now. With the PocketMod, you can carry around the days notes, keep them organized in any way you wish, then easily transfer the notes to your PDA, spreadsheet, or planner.

The PocketMod is a small book with guides on each page. These guides or templates, combined with a unique folding style, enable a normal piece of paper to become the ultimate note card. It is hard to describe just how incredibly useful the PocketMod is. It’s best that you just dive in and create one.

Many things make this little personal organizer special, here is a list.
1. It fits easily in your back pocket or purse.
2. It’s as cheap as one piece of paper (Because that’s all it is!)
3. It opens like a book. Leading to easier to find, more organized notes.
4. The first page has a pouch, big enough to carry a business card!
5. Customizable with “Mods” tailored to your needs.
6. It’s free and fun!

You gotta love software problems.

About one week ago I installed Samsung PC studio, a Windows-based PC program package that you can use easily to manage personal data and multimedia files by connecting a Samsung Electronics Mobile Phone (GSM/GPRS/UMTS) to your PC.

When playing avi files, it came to my attention that Bsplayer or Mpc crashed, giving the following error:

avi-error

A quick google checkup showed that the file “fun_avcodec.dll” came with samsung pc studio. So I renamed the file and everything is working again.

A Samsung Electronics Mobile Phone vs avi video files: logic, it makes none.
